Sport Sounds produces the live commentary of every Ajax match, home and away. We do this under the banner of Ajax Radio — a familiar voice for Ajax fans wherever they are in the world. Sport Sounds is responsible for both the editorial coverage and the technical delivery. We work closely with German software partner Mycrocast, which lets us stream audio reliably, accessibly and without delay.
Audio description in the stadium for blind and partially sighted fans
At home matches in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Ajax Radio doubles as audio description for visitors with a visual impairment. Through a dedicated channel on their smartphone, they can listen in from the audio-description section of the stand to a version of the live commentary tailored to them — without delay, fully in sync with what is happening on the pitch. Together with the club’s fan-care team, we made sure these fans can choose where they want to sit: in the regular stands, or in the accessible-seating area for some additional support.
This kind of in-stadium accessibility is not just an important step toward inclusion — it is hugely appreciated by the audience itself. It is how we make the football experience available to everyone.
Ajax Radio’s global reach
Beyond the stadium, thousands of Ajax supporters tune in to Ajax Radio every matchday. Supporters on holiday, those who have emigrated or are working abroad, or simply those who cannot make it to the ArenA.
